FLOWER HOTELS COUNTRY BOOSTED MAIDEN HANDICAP 1206m
In the absence of noted leaders, Apparently and Sweet Marlene may be the ones to set a moderate tempo. ADEQUATE EZE (1) returns from a 160-day spell for a second campaign. Has found the line well to finish second at all three runs to date. Probably settles a bit closer this time and has the ability to round them up over the concluding stages. APPARENTLY (8) has had two runs back from a 15-month lay-off and failed to threaten. Will appreciate an extra 100m today and this is an easier assignment than the last one at Wyong. Capable of turning things around. Perennial placegetter SWEET MARLENE (12) likes some give in the track and is racing well. Well in after the claim and should be thereabouts again. SUNSTAZ (7) was plain last start but can improve third-up over a bit more ground today. LAGAVULIN (10) gets a bit of weight relief at her third race start and is not out of the equation. SUGGESTED PLAY: Adequate Eze to win. |

PORT CITY BOWLING CLUB MAIDEN PLATE 1509m
Without a great deal of early pace evident The Big Ticket may lead the way over Colorado Tycoon. THUNDER LIGHTS (7) registered his third minor placing from seven career runs when an even third over the mile at Wyong recently. Less depth to this maiden, particularly with a few key scratchings. Great chance to open the account. PRINCE OF WANTS (5) enjoyed getting through the heavy ground at Taree last start, working home into third over 1262m. Plenty of improvement to come at just his third race start. Looks a key runner in a thin race. AMAZIGH TORQUE (8) opened her career with a couple of minor placings then lacked the dash required to be competitive over 1200m at the Sunshine Coast most recently. Looking for this sort of journey now so a better run is likely. FRICTIONAL FORCE (13) is fitter for three runs back from a spell and might fire up with the blinkers back on. CHERRY DREAM (16) is finding the line well so a longer trip today looks a good move. SUGGESTED PLAY: Keen on Thunder Lights. |

PANTHERS PORT MACQUARIE MAIDEN PLATE 1006m
The pace looks strong from the outset. Six-year-old mare LOVE YOU ANYWAY (7) has found one better at her last five starts, the latest over this trip at Muswellbrook when she closed well to be beaten under a length. Now 17 starts into her maiden prep and still performing - sure to shed the maiden tag soon and this might be her day. KIWI HARMONY (14) is a new arrival in the Neil Godbolt stable. Form around the Riverina over longer trips in recent times has been steady. Best figures measure up favourably so worth considering despite a seven-week let-up. RIVER BISCOTTE (4) is back from a five-month spell and has performed well when fresh in the past. Twice a placegetter here and handles the going so he ticks a few boxes. MORTARMAN (2) is a first starter who was with Bjorn Baker but has arrived in the Alicia Willick since his latest trial on 5 March. Hard one to line up so let the betting tell the story. ANOTHER BLING (18) has minor claims only. SUGGESTED PLAY: Love You Anyway to finally win one. |

CHAR BAR CATERING CLASS 2 HANDICAP 1206m
Storm Merchant should lead at a keen tempo. DUBALENE (9) caught the eye late in the piece to get up for third in a comparable race to this at Grafton two back. Went up to 1400m last start and made less impact. Beautifully drawn and looks tough to beat back in a more suitable race. TOO HOT TO TORQUE (3) is the obvious danger. Started odds-on when resuming over a shorter trip at Ballina last time but found one a bit slicker. Scored by a cool 4.4 lengths when second-up over today's journey last prep. This looks a lovely set-up. STORM MERCHANT (4) met with heavy support but after leading for home found a couple better when resuming recently over 1000m at Grafton. New to this trip but is lightly raced and deserves the benefit of the doubt. Key runner with the help of the inside alley. WHISPERING RUPERT (5) did a reasonable job first-up from a short break at Gosford last start. Can kick on with that run under the belt. QUICK BUCK (6) is not out of the equation first-up. SUGGESTED PLAY: Backing Dubalene each-way. |

JOHN OXLEY MOTORS CLASS 2 HANDICAP 1206m
Genuine tempo with Blue Dane to lead but under plenty of pressure in a keen early contest. LOVECATS (5) returned from a spell over 1000m at the Sunshine Coast last start and had to pull out all stops to just get home in a brave on-pace performance in heavy going. Has come of age since transferring to Matthew Dunn and she looks to be in for her best prep to date. Ideally placed to win again. DIVA ROUGE (2) has won two on the trot by an aggregate of 8.1 lengths, the latest in a Class 1 over this distance at Coffs Harbour. Goes up 1.5kgs in a tougher race but she is lightly raced and improving at a great rate. THE MAGIC MAN (3) went back from a wide gate then made significant late ground to get up for second last time out over 1100m at Scone. Freshened up since that run five weeks ago. Will be tough to hold out over an extra 100m. PATRIOTICINTENTION (6) is racing well and is probably best served by coming back in trip this afternoon. Recent trial winner RUPESTRIS (7) can run boldly first-up with the aid of the inside barrier. SUGGESTED PLAY: Lovecats to win again. |

CARLTON DRY BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP 1106m
Small field but expecting a genuine tempo with plenty of pace engaged. Just the six runners but all are at single-figure odds. SALMA'S STAR (8) has been safely held in her two runs this time in work, both at the provincials. Lightly raced filly who should be cherry ripe now and faces a mediocre field so she gets her chance. JEWELS STATEMENT (2) opened this prep with a couple of decent efforts then was too bad to be true at Taree most recently. Given a four-week break and gets to her pet distance today. Can bounce back without surprising. THE LUPERCAL (4) was six weeks between runs when a slogging third in heavy going over 1005m at Coffs Harbour last start. Sure to be thereabouts again. STIORRA (12) has only won two races but both have been on heavy tracks, most recently just nine days ago at Tuncurry. Up in grade but the conditions bring her right into calculations. MAGNOLIA JEWEL (10) has showed pace at all three runs this prep but failed to finish off. Less pressure today over a bit more ground so can improve. SUGGESTED PLAY: Salma's Star on top. |

BNCC SECURITY SERVICES BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP 1106m
Personal Space should spear straight to the front of the small field. GAYLORD (1) continued his good form this prep when a closing second last start over 1000m at Grafton in a Class 2. Finds an easier race today and is more at home over this slightly longer journey. Ready to win. PERSONAL SPACE (11) led but her condition gave out late in the piece last start when fresh from a 46-day break. Won't mind the extra trip today and is sure to be prominent for a long way. THE PICCOLINO (6) returned to form last start when in the money over 1007m at Taree. Down in grade and handles heavy tracks so this looks a nice race. DUSAN (4) did a good job to finish third over this trip at Armidale two back then was less effective when back in trip last time. Can bounce back in this more suitable contest. GOLD MELODY (12) returns from a three-month spell and has won two from three when fresh in the past. Must be included in calculations. SUGGESTED PLAY: Gaylord to grab a well-deserved win. |

DE BORTOLI WINES BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP 1509m
Good pace from Highwire Girl, Nikody's Binks and Archie Maximus going forward. Open race. ARCHIE MAXIMUS (2) took charge a fair way from home then went on to record a dominant maiden victory over 1180m at Grafton last time out. Up sharply in trip off a six-week let-up which is concerning, but he is progressing well and is in good hands. Stablemate AUTUMN MISS (4) returned to form last start when runner-up over 1650m at Beaudesert. Back a little in grade today and should be in the finish again. HIGHWIRE GIRL (7) led for home but found one better over 1600m at Coffs Harbour recently. Cherry ripe after three runs back and should give a great sight up in the leading division. THE COMANCHE (10) can improve at the third run back from a spell. Has raced here at this trip once for a win. Veteran YORIKIRI (8) ran his best race for a while when just outside the placings at Taree last start. Saves his best for heavy going so don't rule him out. SUGGESTED PLAY: Archie Maximus on top with no great confidence. |

TAB.COM.AU COUNTRY BOOSTED CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1006m
In a small field either Alby's Mate or Permission Granted will find the front. YOUWROTEUPONIT (3) returns from a five-month absence and has had a change in stables. Raced just three times when prepared in Victoria and recorded consistently good figures. The new yard has made some significant gear changes - betting might hold the key but on face value she looks the one to beat. PERMISSION GRANTED (2) last appeared when he bolted in over 1250m at Ballina in December. No heavy track form to draw upon but he should be ready to pick up where he left off following a couple of recent trials. Stablemate DEEP STEALTH (7) is a sparingly raced mare back from a spell. Comes to hand quickly as a rule and should continue that trend off the back of two trials dating back to 30 March. ALBY'S MATE (4) had a five-week break before a tiring fifth over this distance at Muswellbrook recently. Fitter and will give a great sight. EXCEED ME (5) resumes. Has filled a placing at both previous first-up runs and is a winner here at the trip. SUGGESTED PLAY: Youwroteuponit to win for the new yard. |
