Good early tempo with several going forward, primarily Raffalli, Patriotic King and Madame Romanov. MR HAVE A CHAT (1) was only caught late last start as favourite on this track nearly 5 weeks ago over 1200 metres and might be better off over the shorter trips for now. He has had some subtle gear changes since his last run and with a drop back in class, he is capable of taking this out. PATRIOTIC KING (3) has needed both of his runs back from a spell and should be ready to put his best hoof forward third up in this. He slides down a class and improves his draw so must be hard to beat this time. RAFFALLI (2) might need the run fresh up but the field is small and he can figure in the finish if the pace is genuine up front. MADAME ROMANOV (4) is nearing her peak fitness and will be suited to the small field. A return to 1000 metres is no problem and she is expected to be right there at the business end. HAZELWOOD (5) is only a maiden dropping right back in trip for this but even he has some top-three claims. SUGGESTED PLAY: Mr Have A Chat to win.
