Red Irvine can work over from a wide draw to lead. LEON BAROWS (6) has been in the placings at his last two starts, finishing third last time over 1600m at Chukyo. Meeting a tougher field but on his best form he is capable of a big performance. SILVER SPADE (12) was out of the money two runs back then again missed the frame last start over 1600m at Tokyo, beaten 2 lengths into fifth. Meets some better types this time but a better run will not surprise. ISLA GRANDE (8) ran a nice race when fresh from a spell last time out, finishing second and beaten only one length over 1600m at Chukyo. It doesn't get any easier but on his best form he is good enough to take this out. EMPHASIZE (2) finished sixth over 1600m at Kyoto at his most recent appearance on January 13. Among the better hopes.
