Not expecting them to go too hard in a race devoid of on-pacers. SAMURAI (8) is working his way towards his first win and was making up some steady ground late from well back at Benalla last time out when finishing runner-up. He is now ready for his first attempt over a middle distance and will be odds-on to get the job done this time. KOWHAI (9) ran her best race yet last time out when running on late into second place at Pakenham. Her breeding suggests that she will only get better with time and she is the main threat to the top pick, if there is one. RETOURNE (7) stepped up to a mile last time out and improved to run second. He will be peaking third up and is now out to a more suitable trip. If this race has not come too soon for him, 11 days later, he is in with another big chance of getting some prize money. JUST EXPLOSIVE (6) failed to fire last time out after a decent run for third when resuming at this level. He is worth another chance.
