NUM TIME COMMENT
1 09:50 Open Class Race 2890m
ROSCOFF (14) was returning from a layoff last start when beaten 7 lengths into fourth in a steeplechase (3350m) at Nakayama. Strips fitter and is worth another chance. SMASHER (8) was most recently at the races three months ago. Closed the last campaign with a minor placing in a steeplechase (2860m) at Kokura, beaten 2.75 lengths. Presents a serious threat. MEMORIES OF YOU (1) was very good when returning from a layoff most recently, beaten 4.5 lengths into third in a steeplechase (2750m) at Fukushima. Decent chance in this line-up. MELTEMIA (6) did well to finish third two back in a maiden steeplechase (2860m) at Kokura. Improved to score in a maiden steeplechase (2970m) at Hanshin 42 days ago, arriving 2 lengths ahead of his rivals. Will be a force once again.
2 10:25 Maiden Race 1800m
PICARESQUE NOVEL (9) knuckled down strongly to get within 1.4 lengths of the winner in third last start over 1700m at Fukushima Dirt on debut. Promising colt who can go on with it. WINTER GARDEN (13) wasn't far off maiden success before a break of three months, finishing the campaign with a minor placing over 1800m at Kyoto Dirt. Has ability and is a solid chance. EIFER CAP (4) was never in contention last time over 1900m at Kyoto Dirt when he closed late and finished fourth, beaten 6 lengths. Expected to feature in the finish this time. MEISHO ELEGY (12) resumes from a spell of three months. Could only manage to finish seventh at the latest run over 1800m at Kyoto Dirt. Can kick off with a bold showing.
3 10:55 Maiden Race 1200m
TAKKA BULLET (14) is in the right form, last time out finishing second over 1200m at Nakayama Dirt after being prominent at the corner. Ideally placed to open his account. BAROQUE PEARL (5) has put together back-to-back placings, the latest when 4.5 lengths away in third over 1200m at Nakayama Dirt when she was in the firing line all the way. Has her share of ability. Hard to beat in this suitable race. GEMBU (12) is a four-start maiden who returned last time and finished fifth at Nakayama Dirt over 1200m, beaten 6 lengths. Has good early speed so should take up a forward position. Sure to be competitive. SANREI MARY (10) finished 4.5 lengths away in fifth at his last appearance over 1150m at Fukushima Dirt on April 13. No surprise if he figured in the finish.
4 11:25 Maiden Race 2890m
EXPLOSION (6) was responsible for a nice effort last time out when he finished runner-up on his jumps debut in a maiden steeplechase (2970m) at Hanshin. Leading contender again. OSTERIA (12) registered a sound second 20 days back in a maiden steeplechase (2750m) at Fukushima. That result came as no surprise after a solid third in a maiden steeplechase (2970m) at Hanshin two starts ago. Must be a chance again. TRANSYLVANIA (3) was fresh from a spell last time out and making his first appearance over the obstacles. Handled the transition nicely on that occasion to finish 4.5 lengths away in third in a maiden steeplechase (2750m) at Fukushima. Makes plenty of appeal. PRECIOUS SOUL (2) resumes today for a new stable. Hasn't raced since finishing second in a maiden steeplechase (2890m) at this track at the corresponding meeting last year. Don't rule him out.
5 12:15 Maiden Race 1800m

YOUNG ROSES (7) returned from a spell four weeks ago when he was in the firing line on the corner before being beaten 7 lengths into fourth over 2600m at Fukushima. Has a fair record when second up, including two top-three finishes. Must raise the bar but can feature. BIG BELUGA (6) is third up today. Turned in a better run last time when third, beaten 0.6 lengths, at Fukushima over 2600m. Settles back early but winds up late. Bright prospects.
