NUM TIME COMMENT
1 01:09 ROONEY'S RURAL & STOCKCAMP SADDLERY QTIS BENCHMARK 60 Handicap 1000m
Hot tempo expected with Dizzy Devine, Chief Mondo and Our Golden Cherub heading the charge. JUKEBOX LUCY (6) raced consistently in South Australia last season and after a spell and a switch of stables she has continued that form this year, with back-to-back second placings at Longreach to open this prep. She is peaking third up and is having her first start on what is now her home track. On top. BLERIOT (2) lost her form in Victoria last spring and has since changed yards. She comes to hand quickly and a change of scenery can revitalise the older mares. Watch the markets closely. Can win. SINNER (3) just battled at a recent Julia Creek picnic meeting and sometimes the kick-back on that track can be overwhelming. He can improve on the turf here and is set to bounce straight back into the money. DIZZY DEVINE (5) beat the top pick last start when completing a double at Longreach a week ago. She carries a kilo less in weight here courtesy of a 4-kilo claim and a hat-trick beckons.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Sinner each-way.
2 01:42 BARCALDINE WELDING WORKS / RAILWAY HOTEL Maiden Plate 1000m
Cerared and Queen's Arms possess good early speed and will battle for early honours. BENDOLIRRA (1) has had a decent spell since his last run at Coffs Harbour and is making his North Queensland debut on what is now his home track. He has plenty of speed and has the right draw to take them all of the way in this. A market watch is advised. SHEZAJUKE (11) has also changed stables since her last run at the Gold Coast on their poly track. She won't mind the drop back to 1000 metres and should be right in the finish. Each-way. VERALISE (7) is another who joins a Northern Queensland stable and she has a couple of placings on wet tracks to her credit. It is hard to get a line on her but she is more than capable of picking up a win at short notice around this area. MR MEDIA (4) has thrived since joining the Raymond Frazer yard and his form on the recent picnic circuit has been very good. He can measure up here and has solid each-way claims again.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Shezajuke each-way.
3 02:17 NUTRIEN BLACKALL / WESTERN FREIGHT LINK RATINGS BAND 0 - 50 Handicap 1200m
Expecting I'm Free to find the lead but there will be plenty of pressure over the sprint course. ENERGIZED (3) broke through for an overdue maiden win at the recently held Longford picnic meeting last week and gave his rivals no chance, scoring by nearly 4 lengths that day. He has a wider draw this time but won't find it much harder. Now that the penny has dropped, he can go right on with the job. DISPUTE (1) is a consistent gelding who took his time to win a race and should be a lot stronger this prep. He has placed fresh up in the past and has solid each-way claims fresh up. DUSTINS (4) has mixed his form on the picnic circuit but has also won a race at a full-tote meeting at Chinchilla as well. He won by a nose in the grade last time out and is worthy of consideration again. RED ZORRO (6) arrived just in time to score by nearly a length at a recent Cunnamulla picnic meeting and is now at his full fitness. He normally holds his form and another honest effort is on the cards.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Dustins each-way.
4 02:52 GBA CONSULTING ENGINEERS Class 6 Plate 1200m
Strong early pace from Mr Cruise and The Squire pushing forward, along with Limited Reality from out wide. MR CRUISE (1) has been in great form on the picnic circuit this prep and is nicely placed for his return to the TAB meets. He can make the most of being drawn in the pole position and is capable of taking them all of the way. THE SQUIRE (9) was third at Longreach fresh up nearly 4 weeks ago and in that time he has also been a late scratching at the barriers. He has a decent record for a lightly tried 5-year-old gelding and can make his presence felt in this. ONCHAO (10) was given a freshen-up after finishing a well-beaten third in a 4-horse field at Emerald 5 weeks ago. He is better than that and with the aid of a handy gate, he is worth including in all combinations. REAL HUSSEY (3) is another with solid picnic form and he will be speaking third up from a spell. He is ready to put his best hoof forward here. Each-way.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Mr Cruise to win.
5 03:27 MERV 'DERBS' BALDERSON MEMORIAL RATINGS BAND 0 - 55 Handicap 1600m
Slick tempo with Badge to lead but under plenty of pressure in a keen early contest. HERE HE LOOMS (1) is heading the right way on the picnic circuit this prep and fought all the way to the line when finishing second at Blackall a fortnight ago. He is ready now for the step up to a mile and is good enough to take this out. VANCOUVER LIGHTS (10) was a winner at Moranbah 4 starts back when clearing his maiden status and is heading towards that sort of form again after running second at Mount Isa last week. He jumps up sharply to a mile and should be right in the finish again. SAINT MARTIN (4) did not come up in this campaign and has changed stables since his last run at the Gold Coast 4 weeks ago on their poly track. He has also been a late scratching for his new connections. If he can recapture some of the good form he had earlier in his career a win would not be out of the question. Watch the markets closely. FANTWA (3) is getting fitter in each of his 3 starts back from a spell. 2 of his 3 career wins have come here on his home track. Don't underestimate him.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Fantwa each-way.
6 04:07 PAT OGDEN MEMORIAL TREE OF KNOWLEDGE/OUTBACK RACING SHOWCASE - HEAT - OPEN Handicap 1600m
Lots of pace on paper so expect a genuine tempo. BUNGARRIBEE LAD (3) was runner-up at Rockhampton last start and is stepping up to a mile for the first time. Liam Birchley seldom treks his horses to this circuit and even from a wide gate, he is good enough to take them all the way here. On top. MOTION LEGEND (6) was a beaten favourite on a soft track at the Sunshine Coast nearly 3 weeks ago and has since changed stables. He will be suited to a firmer surface and will find this easier than his last run. There will be no concerns with his fitness and from a superior gate, he can take this out. Follow your money. VICTORY BAY (7) has 2 picnic class wins to his credit from only 4 starts this prep, including his last start at Blackall. He has 3.5 kilos less to carry this time and can measure up again. Stick with him. HEYINGTON STATION (2) has been placed twice since winning at Longreach last month and is in a good space. Each-way. THINK HIGH (4) has won twice over a mile in the past which is an advantage in this lineup. Goes close.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Bungarribee Lad to win.
