Anticipating a stack of early pressure with many of these two-year-olds facing the starter for the first time. SIGNOR BILL (3) built strongly to a 5-length maiden win at Ballarat last time out and had the experience edge over his rivals as well. He is a progressive type who is clearly above average and should win again. SNACK BAR (1) is another promising colt in the right stable to continue to improve. He is 1 of 2 others to have won in the race and after a tough run for second in a good field at Mornington last start, he is the main threat to the top pick. BRIGHELLA (2) came from last on debut to score a tough win by a head at Cranbourne and then was fourth in the same race as the second pick. He has 1.5 kilos less to carry this time and that could make all the difference where it matters most. Each-way. BRING FORTH (5) was fifth in the same race as the third pick and will be better for the experience. An extra furlong is ideal and he won't be in this class for long. Include in all combinations.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Signor Bill to win.

Mrs Chrissie and Excess possess good early speed and will battle for early honours. MAWALLOCK (1) has won 4 of her 5 starts and stepped up to the mark with an easy win at Moonee Valley at the start of this season by 4 lengths when leading all of the way. She then followed that up with an arrogant win at Hamilton when sitting off the pace. She has been patiently handled and is resuming from a decent break for this. A 3-kilo claim is an advantage and she can keep her unbeaten fresh-up record in this. MRS CHRISSIE (5) just battled as favourite in a higher grade last start but it was thought that the track may have been too firm for her that day at Ballarat. She is 8 weeks between runs leading into this and with some cut in the track, she is worth another chance. WAKANJEJA (8) resumes today after winning a recent trial and rates a place chance.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Siding with Mawallock

The speedy duo Mirzann and Disturbia can set the pace from the outset. CADMUS (1) is only having start number 11 as a 5-year-old gelding and will be ready to show his best in this campaign. He made steady progress last prep and was third fresh up at Mornington a fortnight ago. He improves with racing and will be spot-on with his fitness second up for 1700 metres. He slides back in class and should be the one to beat, especially with the benefit of a 3-kilo claim. TOLPUDDLE (2) has won twice on the Heath course here in his last 3 starts and won't find this much harder. His stable is running hot as usual and he can challenge the top pick. DISTURBIA (14) had been in good form before jumping in class and leading all the way at Mornington last start, scoring by nearly 2 lengths in a tough performance. She can take up the running again here and will be the one to peg back again. HOOAH HAVANA (7) is ready to be tested over a middle distance after running on strongly for second over 1500 metres at Yarra Valley last time out. Each-way value.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Disturbia each-way.

Regal Might and Canny Hell should lock horns early at a strong tempo. PANTELONE (3) improved off a game run for third fresh-up at Sandown-Hillside to score a narrow win on the Lakeside course there just over 5 weeks ago. He won't mind the drop down to 1100 metres and with the aid of the pole position he is nicely poised to win again. HOLY RACKET (1) had 3 starts last spring and ran his best race in his final run at Moonee Valley when finishing third. He is a lot stronger this year and made it 2 wins from 3 starts at Yarra Valley last start, leading all the way to score by nearly 4 lengths that day. This class holds no fears for him and he can repeat the dose. SHESALLSHENANIGANS (2) resumed with a big effort for sixth in Stakes company at Flemington and then fought hard for fourth at Bendigo last time out. She will be peaking third up and is ready to put her best hoof forward. TITLE FIGHTER (6) does not help himself by making slow starts and was flying home from last when finishing second most recently at Mornington. With an even start, he can win this.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Pantelone each-way.

Solid tempo expected primarily from Midwest and Philosopher. TWIN PERFECTION (4) has been given a freshen-up since going back-to-back nearly 8 weeks ago at Ballarat in a 5-horse field. He showed a lot of courage under the guidance of Brian Higgins who is unbeaten in 4 rides on the gelding. He has 3 wins over this trip and can complete the hat-trick. PERILOUS FIGHTER (11) did not stretch out in Stakes company at Flemington 5 weeks ago and his effort prior at this level on this track when second is the better guide to use when assessing his chances in this. He is a progressive colt who will make the grade eventually and he is worth another chance here. LA DANSEUSE ROUGE (8) is resuming from a spell that would have done her the world of good and she races well fresh up. Each-way. LARIMER STREET (3) is not to be discounted.  SUGGESTED PLAY: La Danseuse Rouge each-way.
6 02:30 Evergreen Turf Handicap 1400m
Expecting Grinzinger Belle to take up the running with Angland and Patchouli Dream close at hand. GRINZINGER BELLE (2) has had 3 starts this prep all in Group company and was a winner fresh up and then kicked strongly for third last time out. Between those runs, she was not beaten far in Group 2 company at Flemington. She is nicely placed in this and even drops half a kilo in weight. She has had 6 weeks between runs and will be spot-on for 1400 metres. Hard to beat. WOLFY (3) drew wide at Bendigo last start and ran on well enough once clear to finish eighth 3 weeks ago. He is down from Stakes class for this and also has 2.5 kilos less to carry this time. Stick with him from a superior gate. SOME PEOPLE CALLME (8) was fourth in the same race as the second pick last time out and was a big winner at Sandown-Hillside before that when arriving just in time from last. The pole position will help him and he can figure in the finish again. ANGLAND (7) has won both of his starts to date and even though this is a big step up in class he does have some quality about him. Go again.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Some People Callme each-way.

With no recognised leader engaged it might be left to Here To Shock, Carini and El Soleado to control the tempo. EL SOLEADO (5) overcame a wide draw to beat a handy lineup at Bendigo in the Golden Mile there 3 weeks ago. He arrived just in time that day, scoring by half a length. He is up in weight but this doesn't look as hard and he can settle a lot closer to the pace this time from a superior gate. He prefers a good track and can double the dose. CARINI (7) is down in class after 4 runs in Group or Stakes company this prep with his best effort coming 2 starts back on this track when finishing third. He had no luck from a wide draw last time out and is well placed over a mile to return to the money. DASHING (9) may have worked a touch too hard early on last start to find a spot outside the leader and had nothing left for the run home that day. He has 3.5 kilos less to carry here and should be close to his peak fitness now. Each-way value. HERE TO SHOCK (3) was a Group 3 winner here 4 weeks ago and has had a trial since then to keep him up to the mark. Go again even with a 6-kilo weight rise.  SUGGESTED PLAY: El Soleado to win.
8 03:40 Tobin Brothers Celebrating Lives Handicap 2000m
Strong early tempo likely with several going forward, headed by Cat Noir and Navy King. ETARA (3) has been rushing through the grades since winning her maiden at Colac fresh up by 6 lengths. She clung on to a game win at Terang last time out after working hard to find the top early on from a wide gate that day. This is her toughest test to date but the rise in journey will suit her and she will be hard to peg back again. YOTOTSU (14) resumed with a bold run for third fresh up at Sandown-Lakeside fresh up an extra 500 metres will suit her. Her only career win came second up last prep in the spring, and she is good enough to take this out. AZTEC STATE (2) is heading the right way and only missed by a nose at Caulfield-Heath last start. He will be at his peak third up and with the blinkers on for the first time, he can go one better. NAVY KING (6) hasn't been far away of late and is worth including.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Aztec State each-way.
9 04:20 Thoroughbred Club Australia Handicap 2000m
No obvious leader on paper which may lead to a sedate tempo. AFFAIRE A SUIVRE (3) did not come up in 3 starts last spring and was put aside. She was an Oaks winner over 2000 metres at Morphettville around this time last year and can make her presence felt in the field fresh-up, especially if there is some cut in the track. SHAIYHAR (7) is very good when caught in the right mood and he is nearing his peak fitness third up. Never got into the race last start but his first-up effort was super. Sure to be in the finish. EUPHORIC (8) is ready to go now third-up into the campaign and out to this trip for just the second time. The draw may be a niggle, but if he gets some luck he'll be right in the thick of the finish. BERKELEY SQUARE (1) broke a long drought last start and can go on with the job.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Affaire A Suivre to win.
10 04:55 Sportsbet The Feed Handicap 1400m
Plenty of early pressure with Providenceprovides, Bigolino and Rheinberg leading the charge. CHORLTON LANE (2) stormed home late to win in this grade when resuming at Bendigo 3 weeks ago, coming from near last on the turn. He stays in the same class and only has to carry 1.5 kilos more thanks to a claim this time. He has always promised a lot and can now work his way through to the very best of company in this campaign. TALBRAGAR (7) is only lightly tried for a 6-year-old gelding with only 9 starts to his credit but he has won 6 of those. He overcame a wide gate to score comfortably at Mornington a fortnight ago and doesn't often get this deep in his preps. He is good enough to score again. RHEINBERG (6) is another very promising performer who may not have handled a track that was too firm for him at Flemington last start 5 weeks ago. He has a wide draw but is good enough to bounce straight back into the money. HENNESSY LAD (10) is a third-up winner in the past and is not to be discounted after a good run at Bendigo.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Chorlton Lane on top.
