NUM TIME COMMENT
1 11:28 STRADBROKE CALCUTTA 13 JUNE BENCHMARK 90 Handicap 1835m
Moderate pace with Youth Spirit taking up the running ahead of Wapiti and Solar Apex. SOLAR APEX (5) was ridden closer to the pace but folded under a big weight over this course and distance last Saturday. Jack Bruce has tinkered with his gear today. Handy gelding on his day and with the big weight drop he can bounce back to form. FIFTH POSITION (4) appreciated the drop in grade and the addition of blinkers when edged out over the mile here a fortnight ago. Cherry-ripe after three runs back and maps beautifully from the nice gate. OSTERMEIER (6) has been outclassed in his last couple of runs after an impressive first-up win in a Class 6 over the mile here. Keen on his chances on a seven-day back-up. LATELY (8) came with a powerful finish to score here at this distance last start. Big step up in grade but he is progressing well and drops 5kgs after the allowance. BASARWA (10) was back in form last time out and can sneak into the frame despite taking on better opposition here.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Solar Apex each-way.
2 12:03 XXXX BENCHMARK 78 Handicap 1600m
In a race without a noted leader either Torovista or Northern Decree can take charge. STARZAM (7) has found the line well at both runs this prep over shorter distances, most recently beaten under three lengths in a BM78 at Doomben. Needs this trip at this stage of the prep. Duric replacing the apprentice is a positive sign from the Schweida camp. TENZING (6) comes off a midweek win at Doomben. Consistent gelding with good stats here at the mile. RISING PACIFIC (3) is down in grade and ready to peak at the third run back.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Siding with Starzam.
3 12:38 SEVEN FILLIES & MARES BENCHMARK 78 HANDICAP (4YO only QTIS bonuses applicable) 1200m
Expecting Argyle Pink to find the lead but there will be plenty of pressure over the sharp trip. TYPHOON TAAVI (3) will go around at short odds on the back of two recent all-the-way wins over today's trip in midweek company. Crossed from a wide gate and gave a great display of sustained speed to win by four lengths most recently at Doomben. Can take the next step against Saturday opposition and keep the ball rolling. ARGYLE PINK (4) won first-up here at this trip then struggled at 1350m last time out at Doomben. Better placed back to six furlongs and she is yet to miss the top three in four third-up runs. TRES REDOUTE (13) returned in good order at the Sunshine Coast recently. Steps up in grade but gets in with no weight and is drawn nicely so worth thought at odds. SHOHEI (9) has won 2/4 when resuming so keep her in mind first-up from a 15-week spell. ALL STASHED UP (7) comes here off three recent wins at Ipswich over shorter trips. On trial at six furlongs but cannot be dismissed.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Typhoon Taavi to win again.
4 01:13 MORETON HIRE BENCHMARK 85 Handicap 1400m
Off the low draw the speedy Zoe's Promise should lead at a genuine tempo. OUTLAWED (9) will find this a little easier than last start when an even effort to finish fifth over this course and distance in a Class 6. Very fit mare who was scratched from the previous to be saved for this. Ready to win. EVOCATOR (8) turned in a real eye-catcher last time out in a BM78 at this trip, coming from near the tail to be beaten just 1.3 lengths. Drops a huge 5kgs today and will be peaking now at the fourth run back. HOLLYWOOD NORTH (6) wound up late to just miss the placings when fresh from a spell over 1300m here last Saturday. Stays on the same weight after the claim in an easier race. Four-time winner at this trip so he gets his chance. BLAKMAX (11) flew late to get up for second when resuming behind the in-form Typhoon Taavi recently. Hard to hold out on the bigger track over an extra 200m. BEEF WEEK PRINCESS (10) can improve on recent efforts.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Backing Outlawed and Evocator.
5 01:48 BRC MEMBERS QTIS 3YO QUALITY 1300m
No obvious leader so jockey tactics to play a key role. INHIBITIONS (2) flashed home late to beat Moesha over 1200m at Caulfield two runs back, earning her another crack at some black type. Things didn't work out in the Randwick bog when she finished last in the Group 3 James HB Carr. Four-times stakes placed which gives her a big class edge over these. KEEP YOUR COOL (10) is flying this prep with two wins from as many runs in NSW. Closed strongly to get home narrowly last time out over 1200m at Gosford. Big step up today but she is going places. VOLCANIC LOVE (13) began poorly and was never a factor in the Listed Daybreak Lover a fortnight ago. Draws well and drops sharply in the weights so could turn things around. The promising WEIGALL TIGER (4) is back after a 16-week spell. Won four straight last prep, including twice here, but did fail when tested in Listed company. Each-way chance.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Inhibitions too classy.
6 02:23 LADBROKES DALRELLO STAKES 1000m
Pareto, The Hamo and Mishani Lily to battle for the early lead at a slick tempo. MISHANI LILY (7) was ultra-impressive last start over 1110m at Doomben, leading from the outset and opening up a huge margin on her rivals in the run home. Only needs to turn in a similar performance to be winning again. DEVINE FORCE (8) is back from an unsuccessful trip to Sydney where she failed in the Group 2 Percy Sykes. Won 2/2 here last prep in an impressive start to her career. Big chance if she can recapture that form. ZOUNA (2) was lining up for just the second time and made it successive wins when she cut down Mishani Lily over this course and distance six weeks ago. Meets her 2.5kgs worse for the neck margin and might lack the other filly's race fitness. Still a contender. EMBASSY (3) is back from a ten-week break. Mixed it with smart types in her only two runs, both in Sydney. Trialling very well so keep him in mind. PARETO (4) strolled home on debut at the Sunshine Coast. Different challenge this time but he is full of promise.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Hard to go past Mishani Lily.
7 02:58 THE STAR COLTS, GELDINGS & ENTIRES BENCHMARK 78 HANDICAP (4YO only QTIS bonuses applicable) 1200m
This Is One and Mintaka Lad to match motors but there will be plenty of pressure from other quarters. Very open affair. LIBERTY STEPS (15) impressed first-up over this course and distance then found 1000m a bit sharp last start. Cherry-ripe for this so back to his right trip from a good gate he makes plenty of appeal. THIS IS ONE (6) made it three wins from his last four outings with a soft all-the-way victory over this trip in a Toowoomba Class 4 three weeks ago. Has the pace to negate the wide draw. Must be respected. DEVASTATING (9) improved sharply last time out when second-up, chiming in late for second over 1000m here. Ready to peak now stepping out to his preferred distance. WARBY (10) returns from a four-month break. Filled a placing in a $300k open class race here last prep to underline his quality. Hasn't always fired when fresh in the past but from a good gate he is tough to put a line through in this company. IMMORAL (4) must be a risk at this trip but his last effort was a solid return to form.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Liberty Steps each-way.
8 03:33 U&U RECRUITMENT VICTORY STAKES 1200m
Front Page and Prince Of Boom should lock horns early at a strong gallop. PRINCE OF BOOM (4) found the lead a fair way out but was swamped late when resuming as favourite a fortnight ago in the 1000m Ascot Quality at this track. Far better suited out to this distance. Will led or stalk from this good alley and he is sure to take plenty of catching. WEE NESSY (9) recorded a career-high performance last time out when she picked up the Group 2 Sapphire Stakes against the mares over this trip at Randwick. Ran the TJ Smith winner to 1.6 lengths prior to that so she is a classy sprinter. FRONT PAGE (6) started very short before knocking up in the heavy ground in the Hall Mark at Randwick recently. Just missed in The Galaxy prior to that so he doesn't lack the class to compete at this level. UNCOMMON JAMES (1) has been kept fresh since a close fifth in The Galaxy six weeks ago. Oakleigh Plate winner who is better than these if at his peak. GOLDEN MILE (2) ran a cracker last start in the George Ryder. This is short of his best but still a contender.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Keen on Prince Of Boom on an each-way basis.
9 04:13 SKY RACING QUEENSLAND GUINEAS 1600m
Strong early tempo with Captain Fenkel to lead the way over Transatlantic and Razors. DUCASSE (2) had been competitive in the Randwick and Rosehill Guineas before relishing the drop in class and taking out the Carbine Club over this distance at Randwick last start. Needs a gun ride from the wide gate but with even luck he can win again. KINTYRE (1) closed well to grab third behind Ducasse in the Carbine Club before hanging on by the barest margin to win the Frank Packer Plate over 2000m at Randwick last time. Back in trip is a query but he has the quality to test this field. PORT LOCKROY (8) ran into a few dead-ends before flashing home late in the 1400m South Pacific at Randwick recently. Horror draw so he'll probably go back. Watch for him late in the piece. RAZORS (6) steps up in grade and is new to the mile but is too honest to leave out.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Ducasse on top in a tricky race to close.
