Skylight Song and Acoustix possess good early speed and will battle for early honours. Pomfrett-trained ROC DE RUSSIAN (5) resumes and is a former Victorian who is up to this if he's presented on song. He has some decent pieces of form in stronger grade and has placed 2/4 fresh and at his only try over this distance. The betting moves will tell plenty. SKYLIGHT SONG (2) has needed the two runs at Rockhampton following the switch from a NSW barn. His provincial form reads well and he finds a bit easier. The speedy galloper will make short work of the awkward barrier and should be ready to fire. FLYING SHAMUS (4) is also third-up and back in grade. Has a small claim and maps for the run of the race. Her best would see her in the firing line. ACOUSTIX (1) gets in well with the 2kg claim and is knocking on the door. A minor hope. SUGGESTED PLAY: Roc De Russian if the betting suggests stable confidence.
