Blistering early pace from Brat, Perkova and New Roman taking each other on, with a few others in keen pursuit. NEW ROMAN (4) is a very capable gelding resuming from a spell. He has been placed on this circuit in the past which is a big advantage and even though he usually needs a run before hitting his straps, he is in the right race to give a good account of himself fresh up. BRAT (1) is another very handy gelding who is at his best over this trip. He was fourth at Alice Springs 4 weeks ago and is likely to race in or near the lead in this. Hard to beat. PERKOVA (2) is not as sharp over 1400 metres and she faded to finish out of the money over that trip at Alice Springs last time out. She drops a grade and is much better placed over this shorter trip. Stick with her on an each-way basis. BEFANA (3) has needed all of her 3 starts since resuming from a spell for new trainer Paul Gardner. She is suited by an inside gate and has her best chance to run into the money for the first time this prep. SUGGESTED PLAY: Perkova each-way.
