Despite the wide draw Victory Melody should cross and set a genuine tempo. HE'S POPLAR (2) third up for this and ready to win. Attacked the line late when fourth over 1190m at Grafton two-and-a-half weeks ago. Can sit closer to the speed and prove hard to hold out. CRUMPETS (5) was having her first start for the Nugent yard when fading late first up to finish fourth over 1100m at Beaudesert on September 12. Will relish the 3kg claim and has placed second up. DESERT LEGEND (10) struggled again at second career run when ninth over 1350m at Doomben on September 11. Fitter now and expecting more in this weaker race. AIRSWING (9) Matt Dunn trained gelding resuming after tiring late when seventh on debut over 1000m at Eagle Farm on May 8.
