Giacomo is likely to roll to the lead and set a decent tempo. GIACOMO (1) set the pace in a stronger race over a mile at Ellerslie last time out and battled on strongly to finish fourth. He is perfectly placed here despite a weight rise, and the key will be the extra 600m on offer. Hard to beat this time. BALANCE OF POWER (2) has not been far away in a couple of strong fields at Ellerslie recently. He is peaking at the right time and is better off in this easier company. A top 3 finish is on the cards this time. LIQUID FIRE (7) was unable to close off his run as well as expected at Ellerslie last time out on a soft track. This gelding needs a good track to show his best, and now that he is third up from a spell, he is ready to put his best hoof forward. Each-way value. PROCELLA (3) made up a lot of ground in a similar field to finish third at Ellerslie last start, which included the third pick. She is usually consistent when fit, and should be right there again. GILLIAN (8) ran a bottler fresh up and then peaked late last time out. Go again. SUGGESTED PLAY: Giacomo will be hard to beat, but most of the field have each-way claims.
