NUM TIME COMMENT
1 01:35 ARMIDALE CUP 13TH MARCH CLASS 1 & MAIDEN PLATE 1900m
Small field in which Zougo Boss can find the front comfortably at a moderate tempo. FULMEN FILOU (1) registered his ninth minor placing recently when a distant third over 2100m at Tamworth. Very fit and better placed coming back in trip. ZOUGO BOSS (2) finally opened his account in a Class 1 at Inverell last start. Tougher this time but cannot be ruled out. ZOU DE LAGOS (4) hasn't been far away of late so can be competitive.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Pierro's Girl can open her account here.
2 02:12 URALLA 2358 COUNTRY BOOSTED MAIDEN SHOWCASE HANDICAP 1400m
Ropewalker and Diablo Dancer possess good early speed and will set a genuine tempo. ROPEWALKER (5) showed all his customary pace last start and tried hard but found one better over this distance at Tamworth. Has been in work for a long while but keeps performing. Should give them something to chase. TURPIN'S TORMENT (7) is a 42-start maiden so not much future in backing him although some recent efforts have been okay. One for the exotics. WILLIAM'S SMILE (8) has put together a couple of decent performances and is worth considering on a six-day turnaround. BRIDE WARS (3) will be approaching peak fitness third up so could show more.  SUGGESTED PLAY: The speedy Ropewalker can get away with this.
3 02:47 CAPTAIN THUNDERBOLT SUPER MAIDEN SHOWCASE PLATE 1100m
Moderate pace with Lulu A Natural taking up the running ahead of Think Pi and Apache Dream. IT'S A WRITTEN (8) is a 16-start maiden whose most recent effort over 1400m was disappointing. Turned in an eye-catcher the before over this course and distance when resuming. Big chance with a repeat of that effort. INVINCIBOO (1) came to Armidale for the first time recently and went close to a maiden win after travelling closer to the pace than usual. Nicely drawn so another big run looks on the cards. LULU A NATURAL (9) hasn't been all that far away at each run this prep. Blinkers coming off today may have an impact. THINK PI (2) hasn't fired a shot this time in work but might surprise off a seven-week let-up.  SUGGESTED PLAY: It's A Written to shed the maiden status today.
4 03:50 URALLA GOLF CLUB CLASS 2 HANDICAP 1300m
Akauwheo is the likely leader at a strong tempo. CHICA DEL MAR (2) cruised to victory two starts ago over this course and distance in a Class 1. Found the provincial company at Newcastle last start a bit rich. Draws a lovely gate and the blinkers go on today. Expect a big bounce back to form. GET SOME FUN (4) has turned in three good runs this prep, the pick of them two back at Rosehill when beaten just two lengths in a Class 3 Highway. Rock hard fit after three runs back and should be right in the thick of things. FOUR DEGREES (3) just missed over 1100m here first-up then wasn't disgraced in a Class 3 at Taree recently. Steps back a level today and should be ready to peak now. ELECTRIC EVIE (6) had been racing well until thoroughly outclassed in open company here four weeks ago. Back in her right race so worth another chance.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Happy to be on Chica Del Mar.
5 04:17 THE TOP PUB URALLA CUP BENCHMARK 74 HANDICAP 1900m
Genuine pace with Tainui taking up the running ahead of Nature Boy and Ella Te Ama. RING AHOY (4) settled last in a field of 18 then worked home well to be beaten only 3.8 lengths in the Country Classic at Rosehill last start. Won't be giving away the huge start this time and he meets a less intimidating field. Ideally placed to return to the winner's list. FULL PRESS (2) won a similar race to this at Kempsey by more than five lengths two starts back. Encountered a heavy track last time in a run worth overlooking. Loves racing here and is in the perfect race to bounce back to form. DESCENDING MIST (7) showed he was nearing his best form last start when an eye-catching second over the mile at Quirindi. Boasts excellent stats here at today's journey. Must be respected. ELLA TE AMA (1) faces a massive class drop on recent runs so cannot be overlooked. Last-start winner TAINUI (3) is a player again.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Ring Ahoy on top in a competitive race.
6 04:38 INVERGOWRIE GENERAL STORE COUNTRY BOOSTED BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP 1400m
Rivoli Star and Fast Da to take up the running at a strong tempo.  CHESTIME (3) backs up five days after making a late challenge to get up for second in a comparable race to this at Scone. Ran well at her only appearance at Armidale four runs back. This looks an ideal race for her. AGE OF AQUARIUS (8) won here first-up then unsurprisingly didn't follow that up at Scone last time - his second-up form is not flattering. Placed three from three at this trip so watch for a much better run this time. FAST DA (4) has turned things around at his last two runs, the latest effort a handy third over 1200m at Inverell after travelling up on the speed. Worth an each-way ticket. Forget the last run of NEED A MIRACLE (5) in an unsuitable contest. Comes under notice based on a 0.6 length third over 1300m here two back. CHARLIE BALI (7) failed here last start but will appreciate a return to firmer footing this afternoon.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Backing Chestime and Age Of Aquarius.
7 05:15 THANK YOU CLIVE WILKINSON BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP 1100m
Master Gee and Koondeeman will press forward in a keen battle for the lead. HORRIBLE HANK (3) has two wins from two starts this prep, both north of the border. Settled a long way back then flew home to score last start over 1200m at Chinchilla. This is a shade tougher but he is an honest sprinter who looks sure to measure up again. SMILING AMOS (5) encountered a soft track for the first time last start and was an abject failure. Hasn't won for a very long while but his form earlier this campaign was encouraging. Worth another chance. VISUALISE (9) returns from a 20-week spell. Opened last preparation with a dominant all-the-way win over 1400m at Glen Innes. Not seen at the trials so let the betting tell the story. MASTER GEE (10) was back in form last start when a close second over 1000m at Tamworth. His winning strike rate doesn't inspire confidence but with Bullock to ride for the first time he might surprise. KOOL BRUCE (12) won a lowly maiden first-up at Inverell. Harder here but can sneak into the minor end of the prize.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Going with the in-form Horrible Hank.
