Moderate tempo expected with Discobay likely to find the front over True Test and Bernie Beel. TRUE TEST (5) wound up strongly last time out to finish a nose adrift over 2100m at Horsham. Enjoyed the step up in journey and he can go one better for the Paul Preusker yard. HONEYJOY (7) let down in good style last start beaten 1.7L at Warrnambool over 2000m. This is a suitable assignment and she's a threat. BERNIE BEEL (2) was vet-cleared after an inglorious run at Warrnambool, but ran and improved effort there the one prior. That would have him in the finish here. ALCAPARCI (1) had been off the scene for a long time and can go better second up. He needs to find plenty to be winning, all the same.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Backing True Test.

In a race without an obvious leader, either Matthew Mark or Radstar can roll them along. MATTHEW MARK (3) progressed nicely last start, just missing over 2200m at this track. Likely improver who can go one better in this contest. AMAWASHA (1) was just nudged out at Moe first-up over 2050m and then tackled much stronger at Geelong over a staying trip and didn't get into it. Fitter and this suits much better. Capable of a return to form. SQUANDER (5) peaks and got closer at Warrnambool last time stepping up from a mile. Will be better for that experience and can't be ruled out. MASH AND GRAVY (7) was not far away over 2000m at Warrnambool, when he was prominent throughout. Scored at his only try at this trip and hits this race at peak.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Backing Matthew Mark.

Saraya is the likely leader at a keen tempo. MARTY MCFLY (3) was beaten a whisker in provincial company twice last preparation and can improve sharply from the solid first-up outing at Wodonga. Has the blinkers on for the first time and will run along from an inside gate. Well placed to be winning. Wary of AKUMA (1) resuming for the Danny O'Brien yard. He's been off the scene for nearly a year but has been gelded and has placed in two Flemington jumpouts. Yendall is a positive jockey engagement. SARAYA (8) has been within range before a plainer run last time. Has Meech on replacing the apprentice and she drops back to a shorter spring on a quick backup. Keep onside. FROSTY NIGHT (4) tries hard and has the winkers on again. Needs to lift, but she may be the best of the remaining runners.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Marty Mcfly appeals.
4 03:30 Kinvonvie Maiden Plate 1600m
Moderate tempo headed by Jotopeli. JOTOPELI (4) has threatened to win in his last three and was backed into the red at St Arnaud last time. Races forward and finally draws an inside barrier. Yendall is reunited and this is a winnable assignment. IMMORTAL ROSE (8) peaks and drops back in trip from a narrow defeat at Warrnambool. She's right up to this and is likely to go close on a three-week return. STOLEN STOCK (7) was quickly back to form beaten a half length at St Arnaud. He has more to offer and can make the finish. PARKRUN (5) will be better for the two solid outings since his switch from the Archibald stable. Would need to find his best, but will get every chance from the handy barrier.  SUGGESTED PLAY: With Jotopeli.
5 04:00 Ritchies IGA Hamilton Maiden Plate 1400m
Not a great deal of pace on paper so it may be left to one of the first starters to take it up. HALF SCOTCH (9) found a distant place behind a good one over 1400m at Warrnambool, and the provincial form leading into that reads extra well. Presents fourth up, and Yendall has been booked by the Danny O'Brien yard. Rates the one to beat. MY UNCLE DID IT (3) resumes for the Wilde yard, and she wasn't beaten far at her only fresh run. 1400m is a better starting point, and she's had three jumpouts. Hurdle is a positive jockey booking. SHADOW STORM (5) is third up, and expect more from her. Has a senior hoop aboard today and the speedy mare will jump and run from the inside gate. FOREVER JEUNE (1) is fit and tries hard. Has been giving away starts so the extra metres will suit. Should be around the mark.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Backing Half Scotch.
6 04:30 Sinclair Wilson 0 - 56 Handicap 1400m
Strong tempo assured from Tundra and Don't Tell Sheriff leading the charge. Competitive. Linda Meech rides and trains THE DAILY PLANET (4), who is ready to win off a 1.7L defeat at Murray Bridge. He will be looking to secure a soft run from the inside gate and he's still shy of his best. Has the tongue tie on for the first time. REAL ALLIANCE (3) will improve today and ran her best race at the provincials over a mile. Has placed 2/3 second up and is likely to be finishing hard. TUNDRA (5) runs along and followed a 1L defeat first up with a near miss at St Arnaud. Gets some weight relief and draws inside. Fitter and has claims. DON'T TELL SHERIFF (8) brings good form from the non-TABs. Will carry a feather this level with a 3kg claim atop, and he shouldn't be taken lightly.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Going with The Daily Planet.
7 05:00 Wannon Pastoral Angus 0 - 56 Handicap 1600m
Moderate tempo with Rippa Buddy leading the way and a few others keeping in touch. RIPPA BUDDY (4) was back on track leading and winning a 54 at Penola. He will be better for that and finally draws an inside barrier. Alana Kelly is booked and she will give him every chance. ANCHOR DOWN (1) settled back from an outside draw but found the line strongly beaten 3.5 lengths over 1462m at Kilmore. The step up to the mile suits and Yendall is a key jockey booking. He's fit and is feared. BOW RIBBON (3) has been close-up in his last four and has the winkers on again. Dropping back to the mile is likely to suit and he's a leading contender as well. ARTPARK (8) is better than the form line suggests. She has a decent barrier for a change, and we may see more from her stepping up to the mile.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Going with Rippa Buddy.
8 05:30 Star Printing 0 - 56 Handicap 1200m
Genuine tempo with The Mariner leading the way. PROPHET'S CHOICE (8) is busting to win and got to within a half length at Murtoa last time. Peaks today and maps for a soft run. Deserves another chance. WHITSON (4) brings a narrow defeat from Ballarat building on a near miss at Swan Hill. He's suited back to country level and Fry is reunited. He's a threat. JUDGE KELLIE (9) has been proving hard to catch but resumed with a solid effort and she's proven second-up. Maps for a soft on-pace run and she can make the finish. MANCHEGO (2) resumes and has won 2/3 fresh. He's jumped out well and despite the awkward barrier, it won't surprise to see him feature.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Leaning to Prophet's Choice.
