Small but competitive staying contest to kick off the day's proceedings with little separating the main hopes on weight adjusted ratings. Speed anticipated from both Zaunkonig and Dark Eyes. HOGMANAY steps out beyond a mile for the first time in his career, however he gives the impression it will suit and the engagement of Bowman appears key. Drawn to get a lovely run just off the speed and rates as one of the hardest to beat. Zaunkonig works forward along with Dark Eyes. MONTAUK has won two of his last three outings, both of those successes coming at this course and distance. Is racing with plenty of confidence and can go on with things here. HOGMANAY steps out to ten furlongs for the first time. Has been a model of consistency this campaign. While a query at the trip, he will at least be rock hard fit for it and the addition of a senior hoop could also be considered a positive. DARK EYES has looked solid since getting out beyond a mile and wasn't far off a stakes placing in the Parramatta Cup. Keep him in mind on the seven day turnaround. SUGGESTED PLAY: Looking to side with Hogmanay with Bowman aboard.
