De Kurnell and American Ensign are contenders for the early lead. DE KURNELL resumes after showing promise at his maiden campaign, highlighted by a placing at Kembla Grange before the break. May have matured with the time away and has been prepared for his return with a recent trial. American Ensign will go quickly from the wide gate to take up the running. Parked just in behind will be DE KURNELL resuming from a 31 week spell. Was well supported at all three runs in his maiden prep and although winless showed promise. His best effort was the most recent, a game third over 1200m at Kembla after missing the start. Had a quiet trial at Rosehill recently to get him ready for this. AMERICAN ENSIGN will prove hardest to beat. Has not been produced since leading before tiring to finish fourth over 1200m at Sunshine Coast when prepared by David Van Dyke; now with Tara Vigoreaux. Goes fast and while fresh will take some catching. ELLE A WALKING has been freshened up since failing over a longer trip at Bathurst four weeks ago. Placed over this course and distance back in September. THE MOSHIRE is slowly finding form this prep and is next pick. SUGGESTED PLAY: De Kurnell over American Ensign in what looks a race in two.
